EastWest Announces Hollywood Scoring Tools – 300+ Scores and 164 Instruments

EastWest has announced Hollywood Scoring Tools, a composition environment that combines ready-to-play instrument arrangements with editable layers, textures, effects and performance controls. Developed with contributions from EastWest and Sonuscore composers, it is designed to reduce the setup work between an initial musical idea and a playable scoring arrangement.

The product centers on Scores, preconfigured combinations of sounds and controls created by nine professional composers. Each Score is balanced and ready for performance, with its instrument selection, dynamics, effects and other elements already configured. Users can choose a Score, play it and modify its components to suit their composition.

Hollywood Scoring Tools includes more than 300 Scores and over 1,000 presets, spanning 14 genres and 12 styles. The supplied material covers cinematic settings including action, science fiction, horror, documentary, drama and uplifting music. EastWest says every Score was assembled by composers, with instrument combinations and performance settings selected for its musical purpose.

The editing workflow allows users to change virtually every element of a Score, including its instruments, layers, textures, effects and controls. Customized Scores can be saved for later use, allowing composers to build a personal collection of arrangements for future projects. The supplied Scores therefore function as editable starting points, with users able to adapt their sound and performance behavior.

The sound library contains 164 instruments from EastWest and Sonuscore, divided into five categories: Orchestra, Synths, Band, World, and Choirs & Percussion. Together, these cover traditional orchestral instrumentation, electronic sounds, band instruments and additional acoustic sources within the same environment.

Orchestra accounts for 57 instruments, including strings, brass, woodwinds, mallets, harp, piano and celesta. The 43 Synths instruments cover leads, hits, basses, pads and ambience effects. Band adds 20 instruments across bass, guitar, drumset and keys, extending the selection beyond orchestral and electronic scoring sounds.

The World category contains 34 instruments across plucked and bowed sounds, metallophones, wind instruments and percussion. A further 10 instruments make up Choirs & Percussion. These sources form the palette used by the supplied Scores, whose combinations range from orchestral layers to synth textures. The product brings those arrangements and their underlying instruments together in a workflow built around selecting, performing and editing a Score.
