Baby Audio Releases HyperWarp – Granular Multi-Effect with Graphical Time Sequencing (VST, AU & AAX)

Baby Audio has released HyperWarp, a granular multi-effect plugin that combines graphical time sequencing with seven processing profiles. Designed for reshaping loops, stems and other audio sources, it can produce rhythmic chops, stutters and more fluid changes in playback speed and direction.

The plugin breaks incoming audio into short grains and reassembles them according to a user-defined graph. Users can draw speed shifts, stepped repetitions and direction changes to alter the timing of their source material. The graph handles the time sequence, while the selected effect profile determines how the granular engine processes the sound.

Each of the seven profiles has four dedicated macro controls. The selection ranges from relatively clean time manipulation to modulation and lo-fi processing, so users can explore different treatments within the same sequencer workflow. Eight front-panel controls work alongside the graph, with the macros providing access to the settings associated with each profile.

Clean Warp offers independent pitch and time control, while Flange Warp uses tight grains for flanging-style effects. Degrade Warp focuses on lo-fi processing, and Filter Spam applies filter movement to individual grains. Harmo-Nicer adds pitch-shifted grains, Fauxcoder produces resonant harmonic effects reminiscent of a vocoder, and Lo-Fizzly applies granular downsampling. These profiles cover both timing edits and changes to the texture of the source.

For producers working with existing loops, the graph provides a way to rearrange their motion without replacing the original sound source. The same processing can also use a stem as material for granular sound design. Speed changes and stutter patterns are drawn directly, rather than specified solely through parameter knobs.

HyperWarp includes a library of preset graph shapes and sound presets for exploring the engine. Parameter randomization can generate new configurations, while additional controls let users alter graph shapes and blend the processed signal with the dry input. The preset shapes provide starting points for users who want to work with time sequences before programming their own.

The combination of graph editing and profile-specific macros gives users two levels of control: the sequence of time changes and the granular treatment applied to it. Users can begin with a supplied shape or preset, then adjust the graph and processing controls to suit the source material.
