AudioBrain has released MixBrain V3, a redesigned Master + Node mixing system for macOS that combines corrective processing, character shaping, mix-priority management and a built-in Local LLM.
MixBrain V3 is built around a session-level workflow rather than isolated channel processing. The Master plug-in defines the sonic direction of the mix, while Node instances on individual tracks apply the corrective and character-processing decisions.
Core V3 workflow:
- Master Mix — choose Genre, Era and Character, then set the overall mix direction.
- Priority / Reciprocal Yielding — rank competing elements such as vocals, bass, drums and instruments so they can make space for one another.
- QuickMix — corrective EQ, dynamics and transient processing for individual tracks.
- Transform — shape body, clarity, punch, smoothness, forwardness and width using linked processors and macros.
- Local LLM — discuss mix direction in natural language without relying on a cloud AI service for the core workflow.
Three editions use the same core QuickMix / Transform processing, 20-second analysis and Local LLM workflow. FREE supports up to 8 Nodes, Studio up to 32, and Pro up to 128. Pro also adds Auto Rank, advanced masking views and deeper history.
