Kaito Sato updates IMFMSynth beta of v1.1.0 with per-operator sync and ring modulation, audio-rate wavetable scanning and MTS-ESP support

Kaito Sato has updated IMFMSynth, the 8-operator FM/wavetable synthesizer for Windows and macOS, to version 1.1.0. Most of the changes come from requests posted on KVR Audio and VI-Control and sent by email. The update is free for existing owners.

New in v1.1:

  • 32 six-operator algorithms: Choose a classic FM routing from the ALGO button, numbered as on the DX7. POINTS envelopes can also be built from R1-R4 / L1-L4 values.
  • Fixed frequency mode: Switch any operator between RATIO and FIXED, with the whole-number and fractional parts of the frequency edited separately.
  • Per-operator hard sync and ring modulation: The sync ratio is a modulation target.
  • Audio-rate wavetable scanning: Each connection into a wavetable operator can modulate its phase or its wavetable position.
  • FM AMOUNT: Scales all FM from 0 to 200% at once, and can be modulated.
  • Reorderable effects and an expanded 8-bit stage: Drag the effect tabs to change the order. The 8-bit stage now has mix, bit depth and sample-rate reduction, all available as modulation targets.
  • Modulation: Modulator rates can go down to 0, modulators can modulate each other, and noise can be seeded to repeat the same pattern on every note-on.
  • CLAP host modulation: Modulators in Bitwig and other CLAP hosts move the sound while the knob stays at its base value, with the modulated position shown as a line.
  • MTS-ESP microtuning.
  • WAV export and wavetable import: Export the current patch as a WAV file, and import WAV files as wavetables frame by frame or with automatic pitch detection.
  • Workflow: Undo/redo buttons, interface language selection, UI scaling from 75 to 150% in 5% steps, and drag editing in the routing tables.

Price: IMFMSynth v1.1 is available now for $19 during the beta campaign, as a one-time purchase covering up to three devices. The plugin runs offline after activation:

  • Windows 10 or later, x64 and ARM64: VST3 and CLAP (the ARM64 build is not yet tested on real hardware).
  • macOS 10.15 or later, Intel and Apple silicon: VST3, AU and CLAP.
