Positive Grid has announced the release of Spark PEDAL, a floorboard amp modeler, multi-effects processor, and USB audio interface designed for electric, acoustic, and bass guitars. Built on the company’s HD Tone Engine DSP platform from the Spark 2 series, the pedal packages digital modeling, phrase looping, and wireless parameter editing into a portable stompbox chassis.
The hardware utilizes a dual-mode knob architecture to access primary parameters without deep menu navigation. In Amp Mode, the front-panel rotary controls function as Gain, Bass, Mid, and Treble, while the center control selects between amp voices spanning Clean, Glassy, Crunch, High-Gain, Metal, and Bass. Switching to FX Mode remaps the controls to assign levels and algorithms across four independent categories: Drive (boost, overdrive, distortion, fuzz), Modulation (chorus, flanger, tremolo, phaser), Delay (digital, analog, reverse), and Reverb (room, hall, ambient). A long press on the central encoder engages the built-in chromatic tuner.
Underfoot, three multi-function footswitches handle patch changes and real-time playback control. In Preset Mode, users can navigate through six hardware-stored presets split across two switchable banks. In Looper Mode, the switches manage an onboard 60-second phrase looper with dedicated actions for record, overdub, stop, undo/redo, and loop clearing.
Spark PEDAL features direct Bluetooth 5.0 integration with the Spark mobile app (iOS and Android), providing full signal chain customization, Spark AI tone generation from natural language prompts, and cloud preset downloads through the ToneCloud repository. The unit also functions as a class-compliant USB-C audio interface for direct recording to desktop DAWs and mobile devices, and includes an internal 3000mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery that delivers up to 7 hours of continuous playtime.
