Audio Brewers has released ab Compressor | Limiter, a spatial dynamics processor for mono, stereo and Ambisonics audio, alongside ab Compressor | Limiter X, an iOS version designed for stereo processing on iPhone and iPad.
ab Compressor | Limiter
ab Compressor | Limiter combines compression, brickwall limiting and harmonic saturation in a single processor. Audio is processed internally using Ambisonics, with independent dynamics controls available for the Front, Back, Left, Right, Top and Bottom dimensional poles.
Each dimensional pole has independent Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, Knee, Make-Up Gain, Saturation and Parallel Mix controls. Poles can also be linked in different combinations, allowing users to move between conventional linked dynamics processing and spatially independent processing of different regions of the soundfield.
The compressor supports Peak and RMS detection and provides up to 10 ms of lookahead. Individual dimensional poles can be soloed, muted and A/B compared, while real-time visualisation covers pre- and post-processing levels, gain reduction and spherical harmonic distribution.
Sidechain processing supports mono, stereo and Ambisonics sources, depending on host capabilities, enabling compression to be triggered selectively within the spatial field.
ab Compressor | Limiter natively supports mono, stereo and Ambisonics signals from first through seventh order. Through Ambisonics decoding, processed material can be used with binaural, surround, Dolby Atmos and other speaker-array configurations.

Audio Brewers has also released ab Compressor | Limiter X, an iOS version available as both a standalone application and an AUv3 plug-in.
The iOS edition is designed for stereo signals and provides independent processing of the Left, Right and Front dimensional poles. Like the desktop version, it combines compression, brickwall limiting and saturation while carrying out its processing internally per dimensional pole.
As an AUv3 effect, ab Compressor | Limiter X can be used in compatible iOS hosts including GarageBand, Logic Pro for iPad, Cubasis and AUM. The standalone version can process incoming audio from compatible audio interfaces, including microphones, instruments and synthesisers.

ab Compressor | Limiter is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU and AAX plugin formats and is priced at €49 until October 15, 2026, after which the regular price is €59.
