Morphulus has updated Spectrus to 1.5.0, a free update to its modular multi-effect processor.
Version 1.5.0 introduces the new Amp & Drive category, bringing four guitar-focused effects to the four-slot rack – all modeled from the circuit up, with no impulse responses required.
New in 1.5.0:
- Distortion – Three classic pedal types (Scream, Rodent, and Violet), each with its own gain character and tone shaping, plus an audio-reactive circuit-window visualizer that responds to your playing.
- Amp – A tube amplifier simulator with five modeled amp families: Brit 800, Black Duo, Chime 30, Chime S1, and Solo 100. Each amplifier features a three-tier Quality knob (High / Balanced / Eco) trades fidelity for CPU on modest machines.
- Cabinet – A physical-model cabinet simulator with a dual-mic XY pad (condenser, dynamic, and ribbon mic types), seven modeled speakers, cabinet types from 1×12 to 8×10, and a room ambience layer – dial in anything from tight close-mic tones to roomy ambient placements.
- Amp Lab – A hybrid amp designer built on the Amp engine: mix and match preamp and power sections across amp families, with character-shaping controls.
The update also brings a redesigned grouped control layout with themed, collapsible cards for every module, a per-module filter for the Random Mix button, per-slot Drive and Level knobs, full-surface slot selection, and a round of performance and fix work – including a major CPU reduction in Mirage’s Flatten mode.
Spectrus runs as VST3 and CLAP on Windows, AU/VST3/CLAP on macOS, and VST3/LV2/CLAP on Linux. Licensing is fully offline – no internet connection required after purchase.
