Blue Cat Audio has released free updates for AcouFiend and Re-Guitar.
AcouFiend is an acoustic feedback simulation plug-in that can make electric guitars scream, growl, or sing – even at low volume or through headphones – by generating harmonics on sustained notes. Re-Guitar is a guitar tone modeling plug-in that can emulate a wide range of guitar tones from a single instrument by virtually replacing its pickups or body.
The new version of AcouFiend delivers significant signal processing performance improvements and adds a new feature to transpose feedback harmonics across a selected note range. The free update also introduces new MIDI capabilities for both plug-ins, along with additional enhancements and fixes (full list below).
New in AcouFiend 1.2:
- Select the source note range where transposition applies to get different effects depending on the notes played (Fine tune not impacted).

New in both plug-ins:
- Windows: multitouch support (manipulate multiple controls at the same time with several fingers).
- All plug-in parameters can now be controlled with MIDI notes, pitch bend, NRPN, 14-bit CCs, aftertouch or channel pressure, in addition to existing MIDI CC.
- MIDI settings window can now be resized to display more parameters.
- Optimized MIDI settings window display on Windows (load time and scroll).
- Fixed plug-in sending Bank number 0 when loading a preset that is not located in a bank.
- Fixed audio dropouts when navigating presets via next/previous and plug-in set to send MIDI Program Change messages.
- Fixed revert current preset not always triggering undo properly.
- Fixed window opacity changes not shown in plug-in when host application modifies it.
- Fixed selected text in text edit box sometimes not easy to read on Mac depending on the color scheme.
- Fixed text edit boxes sometimes losing focus when hovering mouse over other controls.
- Windows accessibility: native system widgets are now scaled according to text size settings on Windows 8 and newer in settings windows.
- Windows: fixed return key sometimes unexpectedly forwarded to host while typing in a text edit box.
