Imaginando has updated VS (Visual Synthesizer) to v2.2.0, featuring texture support inside shaders, drag and drop media, BPM detection, and a handful of improvements that make the whole thing feel snappier.
New in VS 2.2.0
- You can now load an image directly into a shader via the imageTex uniform, opening up a whole new category of texture-based effects. Speaking of which, there’s a new Texture Effects material category to go along with it.
- Drag and drop now works on layer items, so getting media into your patches is a lot less fiddly. VS patch files can also be opened directly from Finder, Explorer, which is something people have been asking for.
- On the audio side, there’s now a BPM analyser in the player, an auto play on load option, and the ability to mute audio output independently from your mix.
- Windows users get Direct3D 12 as the default renderer now, and Spout input performance has been improved noticeably.
- A few smaller things:
- Resetting the shader cache now takes effect right away.
- The material browser loads faster.
- Patch exports now include assets via the new .vpfe format.
- You can also choose which audio output channel VS 2 sends to.
