Morphulus has released version 1.1.0 of Spectrus, the modular 4-slot multi-effect plug-in, headlined by a new Granular Cloud Reverb algorithm that brings the effect count to 22. This is a free upgrade to all users.
The new Cloud Reverb is a granular texture reverb built around a grain cloud synthesis engine. The module ships with 52 factory presets organized into Bright, Dark, Ethereal, Organic, Spatial, and Textural categories.
New Across the Plug-in
- Dark/Light UI Themes with Shape Presets: A new theme system introduces full Dark and Light color palettes plus four control container shape presets (Sharp, Rounded, Pill, Circle).
- Variable Stereo Input Control on Every Effect: A new Stereo In knob on all 22 modules continuously blends between classic mono-summed input (as used in hardware units like the Lexicon 224) and full stereo processing. Default preserves existing behavior.
- Per-Slot Air & Body: Every slot gains dedicated Air (high-frequency sparkle) and Body (low-end warmth) knobs for per-effect tonal shaping, independent of the master Air/Body controls.
Reverb Refinements
- Glacier Smoother: A new knob adds a second allpass diffuser stage inside the FDN feedback path, producing organic varied reflection timing separate from the Diffusion control.
- Ember Harmonic Saturation: Warm, Vintage, Bright, Dark, and Lo-Fi characters are noticeably more pronounced and lively.
- Plate Reverb: In-loop soft saturation tames resonant buildup at high decay, and the low-damping HPF floor, eliminating low-frequency distortion and scratchy artifacts.
- Saturator Chebyshev Mode: The Chebyshev algorithm has been rebuilt from a single non-monotonic polynomial into a weighted sum of T1–T4 polynomials with tanh saturation and 2x oversampling, with the Shape knob now controlling even/odd harmonic balance.
Other Additions
- Version 1.1.0 also introduces opt-in update notifications (no personal data sent) and a range of fixes to preset loading behavior on the Velvet Hall, Velvet Room, and Bloom reverbs and more.
