PVT Studio has released Gain Curve 1.1 for macOS, a levelling tool for singers, pianists, podcasters and anyone whose performance goes from a whisper to a shout.
Here’s what they say:
Where a compressor or a live vocal rider reacts to each moment as it plays, Gain Curve reads the whole recording first and draws one smooth curve of how loud each moment should be. Quiet lines come up, loud ones settle, and the phrasing keeps its shape. Every move is visible before you press play, and any part of the curve can be redrawn by hand, ridden with a MIDI fader, or undone.
In the same window: high- and low-pass, de-ess, quiet gaps and breaths, hum and DC offset, then Make it ready, which lands the loudness of Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, podcasts, ACX audiobooks or broadcast with a true-peak limiter.
Version 1.1 adds background-noise removal to the standalone app, with a “hear removed” switch to check what it takes out.
Features:
- Reads the whole recording, then draws one editable gain curve: no pumping, no guessing.
- Auto-draw at note, phrase or section detail, Smooth, and presets for piano, classical recital, podcast, audiobook and film dialogue.
- Make it ready: one click to the loudness of Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, podcasts, ACX or broadcast, with safe true peaks.
- Loudness and true-peak meters to EBU R128 / ITU-R BS.1770.
- Batch processing; can write the curve into DAW automation.
