Wavefold Labs Releases Gaussian Blur – A Granular Bloom Reverb (VST3 & AU)

Wavefold Labs has released Gaussian Blur, a bloom reverb effect plug-in, for macOS, Linux, and Windows, that splits incoming audio into overlapping grains and feeds them into a plate-style reverb tail. A bloom curve sets when the grains reach full strength.

The bloom curve spreads the grains out over time or bunches them around one point. Moving that point earlier gives an effect close to pre-delay. Moving it later gives a slow swell that peaks seconds after the source. Bloom time runs from 20 ms to 5 seconds and can sync to host tempo, including dotted and triplet divisions.

Features

  • Bloom curve that sets when grains are most present, from 20ms to 5s, with tempo sync.
  • Grain size from 20ms to 1 second.
  • Direction control that sets the balance between forward and reversed grains.
  • Shimmer, shifts a portion of the grains up an octave, or up a mix of fifths and octaves.
  • Grain Tone for adjusting brightness before the grains reach the reverb tail.
  • Plate-style reverb tail with decay up to 40 seconds.
  • Recirculate, which sends the grains back through the grain processing for more passes.

Pricing and availability

Gaussian Blur is available as a VST3 and AU plugin for an introductory price of $32, running until October 26, 2026, $40 thereafter. A free 14-day trial is available with a free Wavefold Labs account.

System requirements: macOS 14 or later (Intel or Apple Silicon), Windows 10, or Linux (e.g. Ubuntu 24.04+, Fedora 40+, Debian 13+, Arch).
