MeterPlugs has announced the release of Perception AB 1.5, an update that extends the plugin’s loudness-matched A/B comparison to immersive channel layouts and adds support for Dolby Atmos workflows.
Perception AB is inserted before and after a processing chain. Clicking Match Level compensates for any loudness difference the chain introduces, so switching between “before” and “after” reveals the tonal and dynamic change rather than the change in level. Louder material tends to be judged as better material, and a level-matched comparison removes that bias from the decision.
Version 1.5 supports channel layouts from mono up to 7.1.4, and has been optimized for Atmos sessions in Pro Tools, WaveLab and Logic. Perception AB can be inserted on object tracks as well as on the bed, with every instance controlled from a single window.
The update also adds an Auto Match Level toggle, which maintains the level match as a mix changes rather than requiring Match Level to be clicked again. The new Pair All button pairs every pre and post instance in a session in one action, and a Link toggle controls all Post Channel instances together.
