Windows-G has announced the release of E-DistortionFX500, a free JSFX distortion plugin for REAPER that offers two distortion types that can be used individually or blended together:
- Distortion 1: Generates only odd harmonics through symmetric hard clipping.
- Distortion 2: Generates both even and odd harmonics through asymmetric hard clipping.
E-DistortionFX500 also features Stereo, Mid, and Side processing modes for targeting distortion to specific parts of the stereo image. Drive the distortion with Input Gain (-40 dB to +40 dB), blend with Dry/Wet (0% to 100%), control the final output with Output Gain (-40 dB to +40 dB), and simulate analog high-frequency roll-off with a 12 dB/oct low-pass filter (20 Hz to 21 kHz). When enabled, the 1 Hz DC Filter removes DC offset introduced by the distortion process. The Link Input and Output Gain feature creates an inverse relationship between the Input and Output Gain.
E-DistortionFX500 is free and can be used as a digital distortion pedal for guitars or as a general-purpose distortion effect on any audio material.
This JSFX plugin can also be used in other DAWs through the open-source YSFX plugin. YSFX is available in VST3, AU, and CLAP formats for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
