Steinberg’s flagship DAW receives wide-ranging enhancements, from articulation control to AI-powered audio separation.
Cubase 15 introduces major new tools and refinements designed to streamline production workflows and expand creative potential across all versions of the software — Pro, Artist, and Elements.
The legacy day 15 introduces a comprehensive set of new features. Among these are advanced articulation tools for realistic performance control, an updated Pattern Editor for melodic sequencing, and improved integration of modulators for experimental sound design. User interface enhancements, AI-driven remixing tools, and updates to key VST instruments and effects accompany these additions.
Sound Shaping & Workflow Flexibility
A significant focus of Cubase 15 is enhanced articulation control, particularly for users working with orchestral libraries and expressive VST instruments. The Expression Maps system has been redesigned for deeper integration with both the Key and Score Editors. Per-articulation attack compensation is also now supported, aiming to improve realism in playback.
The updated Pattern Editor introduces a melodic sequencer with polyphonic and monophonic modes. Users can input steps with scale constraints, use shape generators, and explore built-in randomization options. Preset banks of patterns – including bass lines, leads, and arpeggios – expand compositional possibilities.
Meanwhile, six new modulators, such as Wavefold LFO and Sample & Hold, expand the software’s internal modulation capabilities. These tools enable complex routing and automation, adding another layer of depth for sound designers and producers.
Streamlined Interface & AI Tools
The redesigned startup Hub introduces better project management tools, including resizable panels, audio configuration, and searchable previews. Cross-platform session sharing has also been improved through enhanced support for the DAWproject format.
Cubase 15 introduces AI-powered audio separation, enabling producers to extract stems directly from mixed audio files. This is aimed at remixers and sample-based producers who need fast access to individual elements within a track.
Workflow efficiency also benefits from new automation features. Recently adjusted parameters can now be prioritized for immediate access. Volume and pan controls can be added directly within the track inspector, while users can customize the layout per track type.
VST Instruments & Effects Enhancements
Among the instrument upgrades is the inclusion of 40 new kits in the Cubase Drum Machine, tailored for electronic, hip hop, and trap production. Groove Agent SE 6 gains a new scalable interface, mixer improvements, and upgraded effects.
Writing Room Synths introduce vintage-inspired patches, while Songstarter Packs bring in new loop content. The beta release of Omnivocal – a Yamaha-based vocal synthesis engine – allows typed lyrics to be sung by virtual voices directly from the Key Editor.
Cubase 15 also introduces UltraShaper, a dynamics processor with transient shaping, clip limiting, and EQ. The new PitchShifter effect enables pitch manipulation up to ±24 semitones in real time, with additional formant and saturation controls.
Pricing
Cubase Pro 15 is available for €579 or $579.99, Cubase Artist 15 for €329 or $329.99, and Cubase Elements 15 for €99.99 or $99.99. The software is offered via the Steinberg Online Shop and authorized resellers. Users who activated Cubase 14 or earlier after October 8, 2025, are eligible for a free grace period update.
