Kaito Sato updates IMFMSynth to v1.1.6 with per-operator solo, colour-coded operator roles and one-click ratio ladders

Kaito Sato has updated IMFMSynth, the 8-operator FM/wavetable synthesizer for Windows and macOS, to version 1.1.6. The main additions came from suggestions in the IMFMSynth thread on the KVR forum, and make dense FM patches easier to read and to hear. Many of the other changes since v1.1.0 came from bug reports and requests sent by email. The update is free for existing owners.

New in v1.1.6:

  • Operator roles in colour: Each operator is coloured by its role, worked out from the routing: amber for operators you hear, magenta for operators that only modulate others, grey for unconnected ones.
  • Focused wiring: Hover an operator and the wires that don’t touch it fade.
  • Per-operator solo: Hear any operator on its own, modulators included, with the same modulation it receives in the patch.
  • RATIO 1·2·3: Set every operator’s ratio at once to “1, 2, 3, 4…”, “1, 3, 5, 7…” or “All 1”. The pitch stays the same and only the harmonic spacing changes.
  • Phase controls: An operator’s start phase can now be set from its row on the main screen, and the PHASE knob for each FM connection is always visible.

Also since v1.1.0:

  • Mono mode (v1.1.5): Playing a new key while still holding the previous one changes the pitch without restarting the note.
  • Start phase per operator and 0 ms attack/release on every envelope (v1.1.5).
  • Faster DX7 bank import (v1.1.4): A 32-voice .syx bank imports in under a second instead of about 7 seconds on a 16-thread CPU. User presets can also be multi-selected and deleted together.
  • In-app update notice (v1.1.3): Checks about once a day without sending account, licence or version information, and can be turned off.
  • Faster processing (v1.1.1): 25% less total processing time on Windows and 12% on Mac across 40 test cases.
  • Fixes: VST3 host parameters now follow undo/redo and preset loads, tempo-synced modulation restarts per voice with Key Sync on, and operators wired in a loop no longer go silent.

The next update, v1.2.0, will focus on MIDI CC support, another request from the KVR thread.
