Thenatan has released GRRR, a beat-reactive growl designer plugin for macOS and Windows.
Rather than applying a static distortion curve, GRRR listens to the incoming signal and drives four processing engines in sync with its transients, snarling on the hits and slurring back down between them. A flat 808, a lifeless vocal or a plain loop can be pushed into a full growl using a beat-detector rather than a fixed envelope shape, with each engine controlled by a single knob.
Key Features:
- Four beat-reactive engines:
- TRASH (wavefolding, decimation, ring-mod).
- TALK (vowel-based formant mouth).
- WUB (resonant wobble filter).
- SCREECH (metallic riddim laser).
- TALK accelerates up to 4x on transients before slurring back down.
- Master section with SUB (octave-down weight) and DENSE (global drive/sweep/resonance/gating scaling).
- Per-rack Mix and Bypass on all four engines for instant A/B.
- 20+ factory presets covering bass growls, vocal monsters, drum destruction and riddim lasers.
- Zero-latency, ultra-low CPU processing.
- VST, VST3, AU (64-bit), native Apple Silicon.
- Serial number activation, no iLok or dongle required.
Price and Availability
GRRR is available now for macOS and Windows in VST2, VST3 and AU plugin formats for $49, with a 72-hour intro price of $12.
