OVNI Audio has released Telescope 0.1.0, a free audio analyser VST3 and AU plug-in for macOS and Windows; open-source under the GNU AGPLv3.
OVNI Audio makes free, open-source plug-ins in three families: spatial effects that move sound and open up space, Supernova — a visual synth that turns sound into image — and Telescope, an analyser that measures a mix and writes down what it found.
Telescope puts thirteen lenses over one analysis engine: loudness to ITU-R BS.1770 with LRA and true peak, dynamics, spectrum, spectrogram and waterfall, constant-Q with a key estimate, stereo scope and per-band correlation, energy by pan direction (not localisation), and tonal balance against a reference file. The thirteenth lens, Verdict, runs 21 deterministic rules over a per-second history and writes each finding with the measured number and the rule that produced it.
The plug-in writes nothing to the audio: 0 samples of latency, bit-exact pass-through.
Telescope ships as one signed and notarized installer with VST3 and AU, universal, for macOS 11 or later. Windows: VST3 x64, unsigned ZIP. The source code is free; the prebuilt installers are free to download until November 23, 2026.
