Decomposer has released Dert, a free distortion plugin built around a single control. Turning the knob takes the signal through overdrive, distortion, bitcrush and ring mod, with the four stages crossfaded into one another rather than switched between, so there are no modes to choose and nothing to configure.
It was built for drums and is intended as a dead-simple companion to Sitala, the developer’s drum sampler, though it will take any source.
Dert is Decomposer’s first effect plugin; the developer has until now made only Sitala. It is free, and available for macOS and Windows in VST3, Audio Unit and AAX formats.
