Mork Studios has announced the release of Revelation Drone, a new VST3 instrument for Windows/macOS dedicated to creating slow, evolving ambient music and post-rock textures.
Described as an instrument “built for people who think a chord should last four minutes,” users simply choose a key and a flavor, and the engine’s drone generator holds the chord endlessly, allowing the user to sculpt and shape the swelling atmosphere in real-time.
Key Features & Signal Chain:
- Drone Key: A supersaw drone generator featuring sub, noise, and a ladder filter. “Swell” and “Rate” controls dictate the slow breathing movement that brings the drone to life.
- Atmos: An evolving noise bed that layers tape hiss, wandering wind, distant rumble, and sparse crackle underneath the main signal.
- Warp: Detuned unison utilizing two granular voices per channel that drift apart in cents, driven by a slow random walk that mimics the pitch modulation of a dying tape motor.
- Delay: A character-rich tape echo featuring wow, flutter, feedback tone, drive, and ping-pong capabilities.
- Reverb: A lush shimmer reverb. The reverb tail feeds into a pitch-shifted octave-up loop, transforming held notes into ethereal choirs.
- Mixer & Master: Includes input trim, a three-band EQ, output gain, and live meters housed in a pop-up window, all finalized by a built-in limiter to prevent clipping.
Revelation Drone comes with 22 presets ranging from “F# First Light” to “B Seasick Choir,” offering starting points that evoke massive walls of sound, oceans, cathedrals, broken tape, and radio static.
Pricing & Availability
Revelation Drone is available for macOS and Windows as a VST3 plugin for $9.99 USD.
