Novation has released FLkey 2, the second generation of its FL Studio-dedicated MIDI keyboard controller range. Officially supported by Image-Line, the updated lineup brings hardware revisions across all four sizes alongside expanded DAW script integration for FL Studio’s core features.
The most visible hardware changes include semi-weighted keybeds on the 49 and 61-key models, more responsive 16 RGB pads, endless encoders, and an OLED display that surfaces project information directly on the controller. Scale Mode, Chord Mode, and a built-in arpeggiator carry over from the original FLkey range.
On the software side, Novation has updated the DAW scripts to extend direct control over the Channel Rack, Mixer, and plugin parameters. The two rows of RGB pads support expanded sequencing workflows, including a dedicated Pattern layout for creating and duplicating FL Studio Patterns. MIDI Out connectivity, Mackie HUI support, and Native Kontrol Standard compatibility are included for use outside FL Studio.
We’re proud to have worked so closely with Image-Line to deliver the only keyboard controller designed specifically for FL Studio. Through this collaboration, we’ve added even more direct hardware access to the features and workflows that are most important to FL Studio’s core userbase.
Nicholas Howlett, Head of Marketing at Novation.
