Symbolic Music has announced the release of Synchrony, a new software for digital composers looking to bring the feel of live performance to virtual orchestrations.
Using state-of-the-art MIDI alignment algorithms to speed up the process of tempo mapping, the tool allows more time for the creative and unique aspects of the music making process. By eliminating manual beat-mapping and having to spend time correcting automated methods, Synchrony employs score-informed tempo mapping to preserve musical expression. This new technique called for the development of an equally new type of interface and user flow – a score-performance alignment editor – that has not been available in any software before now.
Synchrony was designed by a composer for composers working in all environments, from home-based creators, to those in educational settings, and multitrack film composition teams scoring blockbusters. Within the software, once the live performance is captured in the composition process, human timing and expression are interpreted and synchronised across virtual instruments.
