Noisebud releases Band – an EQ that does not boost harsh content

Noisebud has released Band, a frequency-selective processor that combines FFT-based analysis, selective cancellation, and conventional minimum-phase EQ.

Band is designed to allow boosting within a selected frequency band without boosting dominant or potentially problematic components inside that band.

When Gain is set to positive values, Band analyzes the selected frequency range, identifies strong or unstable components, isolates them, and removes them from the signal using phase-inverted summation. A standard minimum-phase EQ boost is then applied to the remaining signal.

When Gain is set to negative values, only the isolated components are removed. No EQ stage is applied in attenuation mode.

The Inverse function flips the polarity of the isolated components. Instead of cancelling them, they are reinforced. This allows monitoring of what is being removed or creative emphasis of those elements. In practice, this can be used to reintroduce peaks in signals that have been heavily processed by multiband or spectral suppression tools.
