UDO Announces DMNO Analog-hybrid Synthesizer

UDO Audio has announced the release of DMNO, an 8-voice, 2-part multitimbral analog-hybrid synthesizer.

DMNO features a dual-engine architecture, containing two independent 4-voice synthesizers, each equipped with its own dedicated set of front-panel controls. The instrument is built around high-resolution FPGA-based digital oscillators and a new Dynamic Multi-Core Stereo VCF, which can be configured in series, parallel, or stereo modes.

A central feature of DMNO is its “Play Modes” system, which reconfigures the internal signal architecture via a single control. This system defines how the two synth engines interact with each other across eight different modes:

  • Single: Play only one DMNO engine.

  • Dual: Play both DMNO engines simultaneously.

  • Split: Split the keyboard into DMNOs 1 & 2.

  • One-Two: The first key press is DMNO 1, and following presses are DMNO 2.

  • Cycle: Alternate between DMNO 1 & 2 with each key press.

  • Random: Randomly triggers DMNO 1 or 2.

  • Chaos: Randomly selects a DMNO engine and adds curated note randomization.

  • Series: DMNO 1’s audio output is routed into the DMNO 2 oscillator mixer to act as a complex oscillator.

The synthesizer also includes a binaural mode, which pairs voices to create four “super voices” for wide spatial and stereo effects. Connectivity options include a 2-in/2-out 24-bit USB audio interface, a stereo external audio input with a variable-gain preamplifier, a gate generator, an envelope-follower integrated into the mod matrix, and assignable CV/Gate connections. The front panel features a high-contrast electroluminescent glass vacuum fluorescent display (VFD).
