Carl Craig Celebrates Black History Month By Presenting All Black Digital

Carl Craig All Black Digital

Carl Craig, in partnership with Beatport and Quincy Jones’s Qwest TV, presents All Black Digital in support of Bridges For Music.

Beatport and Qwest TV have partnered with Carl Craig and guests to present All Black Digital. This is a series of virtual conversations and performances in support of the non-profit organisation Bridges for Music. The event begins on February 10th and closes at the end of the month with an extra special discussion, live-streamed from Constitution Hill in South Africa.

During the month-long series, which will also celebrate Planet E’s thirty-year anniversary, performances can be expected from African artists such as Da Capo, Shimza, DJ Bhule, Villosoul and Gina Jeanz.

For the grand finale on February 25th, Carl Craig will present a discussion alongside King Britt and DeForrest Brown Jr. The conversation aims to break-down Afrofuturism, the African American origins of electronic music and the white-washing of the genre.

Carl Craig Bridges For Music

The exchange of views will take place at South Africa’s Constitutional Hill, the former military fort which stood as an incarceration site for legendary figureheads such as Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Fatima Meer, Albertina Sisulu and more. This Africa Special will explore how African harmony and rhythm permeated into techno and house.

It’s a great honour to return to South Africa and to perform in the motherland of my ancestors. The music I have been making, producing and performing for the past 30 years is a homage and continuation of what was born in Africa and runs through my blood here in Detroit.
