10 FREE PIANO VST YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

10 Free Piano VST You Need To Know About

There is plenty of Free Piano VST out there, whether you want a simple sound that works right out of the box or a sophisticated replica of a concert grand to bake into a complicated production.

In detail, we put together this ultimate list of the Best Free Piano VST Plugins You Need To Know About.

1 – ROOM PIANO V3 by SampleScience

SampleScience, the Canadian company behind a huge range of instruments, is offering this (free) lightweight Piano VST Instrument if you’re interested in adding lo-fi touch to your track.

ROOM PIANO V3 Offers a variety of features, including a lightweight piano sound (only 60 MB), Amplitude ADSR, Multi-LFO, a High pass/Low pass filter, and a room reverb.

This plugin is available for both Mac and Windows. You can grab it from the SampleScience website..

2 – VERSILIAN UPRIGHT NO. 1

VERSILIAN UPRIGHT NO. 1 is a clean sampling of an upright piano, the standard of homes, small clubs and studios around the world.

With a broad dynamic range and a bright, clear tone, the upright can still display a soft side when needed.

You can download it here

3 – KEYZONE CLASSIC by BitSonic

If you’re searching for a sampled VST piano and electric piano instrument with a bit more control, Keyzone Classic may be the one for you. Starting out with its four envelope settings — Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release — which vary the sound’s character either softly or wildly, depending on your taste.

This free VST and AU instrument gives an option of five sampled pianos, from the likes of Steinway, Yamaha, Fender and more. Keyzone Classic also contains a reverb mix knob, a Detune control, Velocity Curve settings, LFO Rate and Depth, and a Pan control.

It’s available at the BitSonic website.

4 – SKERRATT LONDON PIANO by BigCat Instruments

More on the less pricey side of piano instruments, this piano VST, AU and Kontakt instrument (also available for Native Instruments’ Komplete Kontrol) gives a sampled upright piano that’s suited for a genuine royal East End knees-up.

Cursory settings include envelope settings (ADSR), Volume and Panning, but this one’s more about the quality and character of the provided samples.

Grab it from the BigCat Instruments website.

5 – GRAND PIANO 3

Another addition from BigCat Instruments, the maker of the previously mentioned Skerratt London Piano comes in with another colorful sampled piano, issued under his own name.

This one is packed in the SoundFont format to load into VST and AU samplers. This meaning that it’s available to Linux users, and that sonic tuning will be based on your sampler’s real capabilities.

Download it at https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/3

6 – SOFT PIANO by Spitfire Audio

Available as part of Spitfire’s massive LABS project, which delivers minimal yet hellishly well-sampled sounds, the Soft Piano plugin gives the essence of a low-key, dampened piano. As the sampling’s been done by the professionals at Spitfire, the delicacy and sensation of a piano not working at full blast has been condensed into a truly rare instrument.

As the sampling behind Soft Piano is quite deep, there are just three controls: Expression (far-left) may be thought of as a volume control, the center slider affects the dynamic response (i.e., how much Soft Piano responds to your MIDI velocity), and the right-hand knob offers reverb.

You can get Soft Piano now, for free, from the LABS website.

7 – 4FRONT PIANO by George Yohng

George Yohng’s 4Front Piano is a small single sound instrument without any settings that reproduces a timbre of an upgright home piano.

Clocking in at a mere 17MB on Mac (28MB on PC). It’s available as an Audio Unit, and VST plugin, and an RTAS instrument for mac as well. Download it here.

8 – FREE PIANO 2 by RDG AUDIO

Free Piano 2 comes with a NEW Upgraded GUI With SOUND sample based on hybrid Piano & String Instrument.

There’s panning, volume, low-pass filter, reverb and envelope control, as well as the three key sound selection sliders: Piano, String and Pad Volumes.

You could get this one here.

9 – UPRIGHT PIANO by 99SOUNDS

Upright Piano by 99SOUNDS is based on Rudi Fiasco’s piano samples and operates with six velocity layers to make things as realistic as possible.

Simple enveloping with Attack and Release times, a Tremolo effect (that sounds like a chorus at times) with Intensity and Speed settings, as well as Dampen (low-pass filter) and Reverb settings are all included.

There’s also a secondary lever that controls the loudness of the keys being released at the end of notes, as well as a global control over master Volume.

10 – SPITFIRE AUDIO LABS PIANOS

We already recognized Spitfire’s LABS series for their amazing Soft Piano instrument, but it’s also worth mentioning the constantly growing number of entries to the LABS series.

Additionally, there’s also an Electric Piano and a Modular Piano instrument, and Music Box one too, but new LABS plugins are being published frequently, so there’s the possibility for lots more free VST and AU piano instruments to drop.
